Jan 2019 – Bioinformatic specialists appointments

The Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria has appointed two Bioinformatic specialists to support the GAP project. 

Dr Chris Jackson is an evolutionary biologist with an interest in algae endosymbiosis, organelle genomics and phylogenomics. He has been supporting the development of genomic pipelines in both the Systematics (Mike Bayly) and Phycology (Heroen Verbruggen) laboratories at The University of Melbourne. 

Dr Anna Syme has been working as a Bioinformatician at Melbourne Bioinformatics including developing and running training programs on genome assembly, annotation, variant calling, differential gene expression from transcriptomes and data visualisation.
